The Bass Pro Shops retail attraction will be the lead tenant in a mixed-use one-million-square-foot Marketplace at Boston Heights development.  The project includes 350,000-sqare-feet of retail.  The projected opening date for the new 100,000-plus-square-foot Bass Pro Shops store will be summer 2016.

"We are very grateful for the opportunity to be the lead anchor tenant for this exciting new development," said Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. "Our mega outdoor store will be a tribute to the great sporting tradition and heritage of the Great Lakes region and a celebration of the sporting men and women of Ohio."

The Marketplace at Boston Heights consists of a total of 167 acres, which includes 65 acres of retail development in the heart of the Village of Boston Heights.  Located at the crossroads of Interstate 80 and State Route 8, the mixed-use-project is conveniently situated between Akron and Cleveland.  The site is just east of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which provides walking and riding trails and opportunities to enjoy native plants and wildlife.

"My partner, Al Scott, and I are pleased to welcome Bass Pro Shops to the Marketplace at Boston Heights," said Sam Petros of Petros Development Corporation.  "They, along with seven other retailers, will be serving the Cleveland-Akron market through our new retail location where I-271, Route 8 and the turnpike meet," Petros said.

Bass Pro Shops unique, award-winning, mega-sized outdoor stores are known for combining retail with entertainment, conservation and outdoor education. More than just a fishing and hunting store, the Bass Pro Shops store will also offer equipment and clothing for hiking, backpacking, wildlife viewing, camping, and other related outdoor gear.  A gift and nature center features a wide variety of outdoor-related items from lamps and dishes to bird feeders and furniture. Expansive boat showrooms offer Tracker, Nitro, SunTracker, Tahoe, Grizzly and Mako boats built by Tracker Marine Group, the world's largest manufacturer of fishing boats.

"As mayor of the Village of Boston Heights, our team has worked diligently to promote appropriate growth for our village," said Boston Heights Mayor Bill Goncy.  "On behalf of the village, I welcome Bass Pro Shops to join us on the ground floor of our new retail development," said Goncy.

"There is less than two miles from the Route 8 interchange to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park," said Don Polyak, council member president.  "This village government, along with an incredible amount of resident participation, spent years developing a detailed comprehensive plan to protect residents' interests.  The village couldn't have found a more perfect fit to our comprehensive plan than Bass Pro Shops," Polyak said.

Nationally, Bass Pro Shops will host more than 120 million people visiting their 92 stores and Tracker Marine Centers across America and Canada this year.  The average customer stays 2 hours and drives an average distance of 50+ miles.  Bass Pro Shops was named by Advertising Age magazine as one of the Top 10 Hottest Brands in America along with name brands such as Old Spice, M&M's, iPad and Droid.  Also, Bass Pro Shops has been recognized numerous times for their conservation and outdoor education efforts.
