Crazy Deformed Idaho Mountain Lion

A frightening big cat was shot in Idaho last week.

A mountain lion shot by a hunter in Idaho last week is the stuff nightmares are made of. This mountain lion is so strange-looking that even wildlife officials are at a loss trying to explain this big cat’s strange deformity.

“It has all of us scratching our heads,” wildlife biologist Zach Lockyer told the Idaho State Journal. “It’s a bizarre situation and a bizarre photo.”

The photo he is referring to is the one of a year-old male mountain lion with what appears to be an extra jaw, complete with teeth growing out the side of the animal’s head. The strange-looking animal was shot in the southeast part of the state near Preston.

The deformity looks closer to a scene out of a science fiction movie than real life. Apparently there was hard tissue on the animal’s forehead which the teeth grew from. “We may never know why those teeth are there,” Lockyer told the paper.

There are currently two theories as to what the bizarre growth might be. Fish and Game biologists believe it is possible the teeth are all that remains of a conjoined twin that didn’t live to birth. The other possibility is a rare tumor known for containing teeth and bones called a teratoma.

Idaho Fish and Game is hoping the hunter who shot the unusual mountain lion will allow for X-rays and further analysis in hopes they can solve the mystery for certain. The hunter who shot it was unnamed, but apparently plans to have the extremely creepy animal mounted.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure I’d want that horrifying-looking thing in my house. It reminds me too much of something out of John Carpenter’s 1982 version of “The Thing.” Someone call in Kurt Russell to come deal with this freak of nature!
